Submissions Closed: Gay Asexuality and Gay Aromanticism
theme
AZE’s next upcoming journal issue is on the themes Gay Asexuality and Gay Aromanticism. This issue is open to receiving submissions from people who may identify or gravitate toward being both gay and asexual and/or gay and aromantic. It was created to provide a space for gay aces and/or gay aros to express themselves while addressing the themes of gay asexuality and/or gay aromanticism.
This issue is also being created to counter the dominant social assumptions that asexuality/aromanticism and gayness are mutually exclusive experiences - an idea that erases gay asexuality/aromanticism and problematizes people who are both gay and asexual/aromantic. Through centering on gay asexuality/aromanticism, this issue addresses the many ways in which they overlap.
The following questions are listed here to encourage possible approaches to the theme:
How do you understand your gayness as an asexual/aromantic or ace/aro person?
How do you understand your asexuality/aromanticism as a gay person?
Are there expectations placed upon you as someone who is both gay and asexual/aromantic or ace/aro?
How would you describe or represent your gay asexuality/aromanticism in written or visual form?
tags: gay aromantic experiences, gay aromantic identity, gay asexual experiences, gay asexual identity, gay aroace identity, being both gay and asexual, being both gay and aro, as a gay asexual, as a gay aromantic, being both gay and ace, being both gay and aro
