Issue Theme: Notes on Stories
stories of ourselves
who do we tell them for
who do we satisfy
our dreams
our nightmares
my story is sometimes told
as one of loss
of absence, of despair
of loneliness
but that is not
how i
tell my story
knowing our stories
are more than reduction
as we pull them
from the muck
of age-old assumption
reshape them
from the mud
earth and spit
them out
now retaken from
those who tried to tell
them for us
Love,

>shouldn’t i be having crushes?
How could we ever start anew
This story has five acts that reflect on the artist’s confrontations with the challenges of performing to the standards of social expectations…
…it is an odyssey of self-affirmation for an aromantic woman under siege by a society that does not yet understand her.
“I - really? You still want to be friends even if I don’t want to date you?”
“’But for one glorious moment, I touched the sun.’”
